DMS for MySql single to flexible servers with private endpoints

During trying to perform a migration from mysql to flexible (based on the online migration) I receive this error message when validating source server (which has private endpoints configured)

Private access is already implemented into the flexible server, making this error look not updated,

Is there a plan to handle this feature in the DMS?

Error type

Your source server is either not ready to be upgraded to the Flexible Server platform, or the service failed to connect. Please check error details for more information.

Error Detail

Flexible Server does not support private endpoints yet, and as a result the '3' private endpoint connections on the server 'source-server-name' can not be supported. Microsoft will send updates as and when this feature is enabled for Flexible Server.

Could you please let us know if you are looking to enable private VNet for flexible server or are looking for the private endpoints feature?

We have configured the flexible server with connectivity method = private access (vnet integration)

There is no such option of configuring private endpoints on this service

Yes, you have rightly stated.

As per the standard documentation :

Flexible Server support for private link is on our road map as our highest priority. Launch of the feature is planned in Q2 2023 and you have ample time to initiate your Single Server to Flexible Server migrations with private link configured. You can also choose to migrate now and perform VNet injection via a point-in-time restore operation to move to private access network connectivity method.

Hi @Assaf L ,

The Private Endpoint for MySQL Flexible Server is being developed and is currently in private preview. We anticipate the feature will be in GA by May 2023. PE can be enabled on public-facing servers (much like the MySQL single server experience), and after the creation of PE (minimum 1), it is possible to disable public access on the server, thereby ensuring all traffic flows internally and providing network isolation.

As a workaround, if you are looking to enable private connectivity on flexible server via VNet integration whilst private endpoint is still under development; you can use “MySQL” as the source server type instead of “Single Server” in the DMS migration wizard to avoid these blockers.

We are not looking to PE since we use the vnet integration option which is working well

The issue I have is related to DMS service which doesn't allow performing online migration due to dependency in PE

I understand from the answers above that DMS will not allow online migration when vnet integration is enabled

So my next question will be about DMS - for online migration path it must use PE (not vnet integration), so only in May, once PE will be GA this migration path will be supported? And it will require using the flexible with PE instead of vnet integration?

Yes, please wait until the feature goes into public preview. By then these blockers would be removed and you will be able to perform the operation.
