How do Microsoft Edge browser notification work? How does the Action Center get its notifications?

Our ticket system is hosted on-premise and is not reachable over the internet. I access our ticket system via browser when I'm in the company LAN. In the web UI of the ticket system, I can activate browser notifications which makes it that a notification pops up in the Action Center whenever someone updated one of my tickets.

I now disconnect my client from the company LAN and connect the client to the internet directly via a personal hotspot. The client is completely disconnected from the company LAN at this point. However, when someone from inside updates a ticket, I still get a notification in the Action Center. This also works if Microsoft Edge is closed and all msedge.exe background tasks have been killed via Task Manager.

How does any of this work? I am very confused.

    Hi @David Trevor ,

This behavior reminds me of Web Push Notifications. It allows you to receive notifications even when your browser or web app is closed. And you have been subscribed to the notification service’s server before so you can still receive the notification when connecting to the Internet.

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having query\issues related to Ticketing system.

Your Ticketing system is hosted on On-Prem , But It may be possible there can be some API or Script which calls your DB from Internet .
