Teams is not auto starting for my users after they logon to their workstation.

I can confirm they all have "Auto Start Application" enabled in the Teams app.

I have uninstalled the app, cleared their cache, and reinstalled the app and that did not fix out issue.

Why is the Teams app not honoring the "auto start application" feature?

Any suggestions?

You could try to follow these steps to see if it works:

Open the Windows Run dialog (Windows Key + R).
Copy the following path to the Run dialog, and then press Enter.
%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Open the Start Screen, right-click the Office program you want to automatically start, and click Open file location. This might be under the More submenu.
a. Tip: If MS Team program isn’t listed, right-click the Start screen, and click All Apps.
Copy (Ctrl + C) the Team shortcut and then paste (CTRL +V) it to the Startup folder you opened in Step 2.

Teams will automatically start the next time you start your computer. If you ever want to remove a program from autostart, delete the shortcut from the Startup folder (Steps 1 and 2).

That fixed it for sure.
So weird that we have to do that even after checking the "auto start application" option inside of teams.

On my computer, there is no option to Open file location when I right click on the app icon in the Start menu. Not only is the new Teams not opening on startup, it's closing itself when my computer sleeps, or even when I'm using my computer to VPN in to another computer. It's really causing me problems - I keep missing messages because I don't realize it's shut itself down.

I am not going to ask 50,000 plus user to do this. Please provide a fix.

it worked for awhile but the issue came back again even with the above steps done some months back. any other remediation methods ?

On windows 11 there is no way to get to file location for Teams EXE

Right clicking on Teams in the start menu DOES NOT give an option to open file location. I finally solved this by starting Teams then finding the Teams app in the task manager. Right clicking it there does offer the option to get properties from which you can copy the file location and then append "ms-teams.exe" to that as a shortcut in the startup folder. In my case though it was "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\MSTeams_25094.310.3616.953_x64__***\ms-teams.exe" where the *** was an alphanumeric that looked like it might be an identifier so I took it out here. This looks suspiciously like it includes the version number in the file location. It may not work next time Teams updates. We will see.
