Unable to run the Sharepoint 2016 Farm Configuration Wizard

I have installed sharepoint 2016 (standard) on a new server (single server running server 2019 OS with a separate database server).

i.e have run the pre-reqs installer

Then the sharepoint 2016 setup - and installed

Then run the Sharepoint 2016 Products Configuration Wizard.

The applied the latest Feb 2023 CU's and re-ran the Sharepoint 2016 Products Configuration Wizard.

All ok.

The page

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/install/install-sharepoint-server-2016-on-one-server

says you need to configure browser settings - and seems to assume that you will have IE 11 on the server but we dont ( the customer does not want IE11 installed on the server). We have installed Edge on the server - but not configured any browser settings (should I need to ? - i have tried to pu t edge on the server into IE mode - but the option is not there)

The next step to run the Farm Configuration Wizard - which i understand that you do via the central admin console as the MS Learn page says

"On the SharePoint Central Administration home page, on the Quick Launch, click Configuration Wizards, and then click Launch the Farm Configuration Wizard."

When I have Edge open on the server, with the Central Admin page open

url = http://{servername:portnumber}/default.aspx

Then click on Configuration Wizards - then all I see is the image and words "Farm Configuration" (no hyperlink) . The rest of the page is blank and no option to run any wizards.

I am logged into the server as the service account that was used to install sharepoint.

(if, from central admin, i go to Security - then "Manage the farm administrators group" - then select New (invite people) - and add users - then select my own account and click on Share - then i get "Sorry, something went wrong")

How can i run the Farm Configuration Wizard?

i..

    Hi @Greg Booth ,

I tested in my environment, when using Edge browser, I encountered the same situation as you. Same thing with Chrome. And when I use the Internet Explorer 11 that comes with Windows Server 2016, I will not encounter the above problems.

It is recommended that you use one of the following browsers for configuration.

Hi everyone, I believe it's already an old thread however in my case it wasn't working on IE as well as other browsers, so suspecting that an issue with the installation while everything went fine.

After researching the browser issue, I found that I changed the default browser to Firefox before SP installation thinking IE is EOL as Microsoft says however they ship it with all servers yet. They need to fix this small issue.

    Configuration Wizard non clickable

    Configuration Wizard non clickable 2

    Configuration Wizard non clickable 3

Solution: Change the default browser to IE & restart the server. Everything is working as expected.

    Configuration Wizard non clickable 4

    Hit as answer if solved.

Had the same problem on SPSE, solved by right clicking and running the browser as an administrator
