How do I handle error reporting for wsl installation

An error code occurred when installing the Linux subsystem：WslRegisterDistribution failed with error: 0x80070002

I have installed the Ubuntu subsystem before, and there is no problem with it. However, when I tried to access wsl using Windows terminal today, I found that I could not access it and reported an error that the path could not be found. Then I found that the wsl2 I installed could not be found. I tried to reinstall it, but it could not be installed.

• Windows subsystem for Linux is enabled
• Virtual machine feature enabled
• Downloaded Linux kernel update package

Hello there,

WSLRegisterDistribution Failed error can occur due to a corrupt Linux installation or if the Linux subsystem is disabled.

Restarting the LxssManager Service might help in resolving this issue. Linux instance life cycle service i.e. LxssManager operates in the background to keep things under control.

On the services find and restart the LxssManager service.

Also, check if the Windows Subsystem for Linux feature is turned off if so try turning it on and rebooting the device.

I am still facing issue

C:\Windows\System32>wsl --install

Installing: Ubuntu

Ubuntu has been installed.

Launching Ubuntu...

Installing, this may take a few minutes...

WslRegisterDistribution failed with error: 0x80070002

Error: 0x80070002 The system cannot find the file specified.

WSL is enabled

Virtual Machine platform enabled

Hypervisor Platform disabled

LxssManager started manually

Downloaded in Ubuntu but facing above issue
