DCOM SSLVPN Authentication failed after Server 2016 update.
I did recent Windows server 2016 update and now the Sonicwall SSL VPN connection fails. I first noticed this when the Veeam backup failed. Researching this Veeam pointed me to check several things relating to their software. Then wanted log files. They came back saying providing me with a Microsoft KB relating to Microsoft CVE-2021-26414 security update. I read thru the Microsoft information then followed the steps to change / add two registry settings - local machine - software - Microsoft - ole - appcompat. RaiseActivationAuthenticationLevel then Set the hex number to a 2. AND RequireIntegrityActivationAuthenticationLevel set to a 1.
Most of the event viewer code showing are 10036
Rebooted server. VPN connection and Veeam backup still failed. Logged ticket(s) with Veeam and one with Sonicwall looking for any possible updates or fixes to their applications. Looking for any assistance if issue can be resolved on the Server 2016 which is a Domain Controller.
