choosing maximized in properties does not work.

I have the latest Edge as of 06-Nov-2023 and this doesn't work for me. It works in Chrome, but not in Edge..

When opening a new window from a link is there a command line option to open new window in maximized mode?

The --start-maximized only works for the first Edge window that opens?

You can use the following command-line option to start Edge in a maximized window:

--start-maximized

In Properties --> Shortcut --> Target, make sure it looks like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" --start-maximized

I have tried the above switch at the end of one of my weblinks that need to be auto-opened in a maximized window and it didn't work. The reason it needs to be maximized is that some of the computers this link is going to won't have any user input devices on them. Any help would be appreciated.

Never mind, I think I found that the newer versions of Chromium browsers ignore the "--start-maximized" switch if there is already a process running in the background. I got around this by creating a PowerShell script to task kill the browser based on name and then waiting a sec and then launching the browser again with the switches need to both start the right weblink and have it set to a maximized window. That seems to have worked.

example:

taskkill /IM msedge.exe /F

Start-Sleep -Seconds 1

& "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" %URL% --start-maximized

When this settings is included in a Visual Studio project (like asp.net) it doesn't work always. The result is inconsistent

"Navigate with..." add a new browser

use

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe"

in argument, add:

--start-maximized

Give a name:

Microsoft Edge Maximized

Make this the default settings

run your project.

it "might" work, but it's not because of the settings but because your browser is already "stuck" in maximize mode. it might also be "stuck" in "normal" (not maximized) mode.

I didn't discovered what trigger it to be stuck in one mode or another, it seem to change over time inconsistentely.

On Windows 11, at least, the option should be entered with only one hyphen, -start-maximized. Then it works fine. Thanks!

This does not work! I do not understand how this can be so difficult to open Edge in maximized mode with the menu and favorites bar? How can this simple task be SO DIFFICULT????
