Microsoft authenticator restore older backup

Hi,
I recently lost my phone and had to set up Microsoft Authenticator on a new device. However, when I tried to restore my previous backup, all the data was replaced with an empty backup. Is it possible to recover data from an older backup, and if so, what steps do I need to take to do so?
