Why can't i book a 1 hour appointment starting at half past the hour

I'm trying to set up Bookings to offer 1 hour appointments starting at 9.30am with another at 10.30 and one at 11.30. Why is this not possible? If the settings are 1hr duration and 1hr increments then the first appt is showing as 10 (all availability settings are correct). If the settings are 1 hr duration and 30min increments then appointments start at 9.30 but can also be booked on the hour which i don't want. Any ideas anyone?

This appears to be a "feature" in response to user requests. (e.g. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/bookings-force-services-available-times-to-start/be7d0942-e0cf-4293-a1fe-4ac51a4a8d31) I absolutely do not want this behavior. Who on earth doesn't take into account that some of us actually want hour-long appointments to start at times other than the top of an hour, and half-hour appointments that start at times other than top and bottom of an hour.

Please tell me there's a way to turn off this unwanted "feature".
