I can't install any Role or feature (here i want to add ADFS service role).

I tried to install KB5009557 but it is not applicable.

Hello Alex,
Are you double clicking the kb in .msu format? If so, that is the reason why. Remember that this reinstall needs to be done with dism /online /add-package /packagepath:NameOfPackage
and this package is the .cab that is contained in the KB.

I tried and rebooted with KB5010351.
I am afraid that if i force install KB5009557, it will be unstable.
Anyway, i tried the reinstall with DISM.
Hi Alex,
If you correctly extract the .cab contained in the KB5009557**.msu downloaded from the Update Catalog and do not get any error during the package install you should not worry about future problems. Even if the force installation fails, the machine should not become unstable.
However, keep in mind that it's always a good practice to backup your system before carrying out any operations like this.

0x80073701 = ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING which means there are some system files are missing, which caused the update installation failure. You can also try a repair install by running setup.exe from the root of the install.
I wouldn't hold much hope for this, time may be better spent standing up a new one, patch it fully and migrate the roles or applications over to it.

Missing sub-packages of KB5009557**.** Before trying in place upgrade, you may want to fix it with procedure from: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/deployment/fix-window by manually installing the .cab that corresponds to this KB using the instructions from: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/dism-operating-system-package-servicing-command-line-options?view=windows-11#add-package
After succesful installation try again the role install.

I tried but this does not help because update applies to windows 7 and im on server 2019.
I also tried dism restore jhealth from cd source but still no luck.
This is an ADDS server with CA root authoritie, so this is very critical.

The simplest / safest solution for a domain controller is to stand up a new one for replacement.
I'd use dcdiag / repadmin tools to verify health correcting all errors found before starting any operations. Then stand up the new 2019, patch it fully, license it, join existing domain, add active directory domain services, promote it also making it a GC (recommended), transfer FSMO roles over (optional), transfer pdc emulator role (optional), use dcdiag / repadmin tools to again verify health, when all is good you can decommission / demote old one.

you could check the file versions on your machine versus the list above. If you found higher versions then the "not applicable" would be expected behavior.

I already installed KB5005112. As my server is a C, it says that i have to install KB5010351 instead.
I try install it but it says that KB5010351 is already installed.
Shall i clean older update? If so, how?
