When clicking on a word document in Windows Explorer user gets a pop up that reads "Word could not create the work file” check the temp environment variable." This is not during saving it is just clicking. I did find https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/troubleshoot/office-suite-issues/no-file-previews-file-explorer-switching-to-32-bit and did the Scan for malware and disk errors, that fixed a corrupt file. I did the Add an Environment Variable step as well. Trying this step however did not work Create a Temporary Internet Files folder. C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache does not exist on that users computer. I do not know if I create the folder INetCache would be okay. Do you think I should create that folder? (Yes I have it to view hidden folders and it is still not there)Capture1

    Hi @E A

Yes, I suggest you try to create the INetCache folder, then create a Temporary Internet Files folder.

If this step does not work, it's recommended to edit the registry subkeys mentioned in article to fix the error.

Besides, I also suggest you go to Control Panle > Internet Options > General, click the Settings under Browsing history.

Check the path of Current location. The default path is the INetCache folder as the image below shown.
