My place have added me to the work network on Azure however when i login it says i don't have a subscription, so i can't see any of the virtual machines or anything like that, all i can see is the Azure active directory and manage the users in there.

I asked that i be added in role assignment as either an owner or contributor and they said they think i may have been added as a "classic" admin rather than a newer one and that is done now, however i went to log in again and nothing has changed.

Can i just confirm while i am already on the network i just need to be added as one of the role assignments i mentioned above to be able to access everything? (I am meant to have access at a global admin level so my access should be highest if not one under.)

I also faced the same issue when I was assigned the task to deal with the VMs. After working on it for a day, we tried adding my email to the subscription. As I got added to the subscription, I was able to access the virtual machines without any issues.

You should also be added to the Subscription. You won't have any issues after that. Here you can see me added to the subscription.

I am added as a contributor to the subscription

    Hi,

Yes, if you are assigned Owner at the subscription scope you should be able to access the resources in the subscription. If you were added as Co-Administrator of the subscription you should've had access to the resources as well (just like Owner).

After signing in to the portal please click on Settings (gear icon upper right) and make sure you set to the correct Directory.

Please note there can be a brief delay after you are given a new role assignment before it is reflected. You need to sign out of the portal and back in if you aren't already aware.

    Thanks.

For some reason there were 2 directories both named as my workplace but the more official looking one was the incorrect one, all working now i switched to the other one.
