App deletion required rather than update

Whenever i upload a new release of the application for IOS and android, deletion of the app is required to be able to install the new version of the app. where the best practice should be to update the current app itself. Can you please advise if there is an option to be enabled for this feature?

    Which app type did you deploy to iOS or android? Based on my understanding, Store apps, built-in apps, web link apps' updates are automatic.
