Hello,

we've just encountered an issue on a Windows Server 2016 machine regarding the WMI.
On that machine, attempting to read the installed updates via Get-Hotfix, Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_QuickFixEngineering, or wmic qfe list full does not work. For instance, Get-Hotfix returns the following error:

System.Management.ManagementException: Invalid class

The WMI class "Win32_QuickFixEngineering" does not seem to exist on that system for unknown reasons.
We already tried running winmgmt /verifyrepository but it found no inconsistencies.

What are possible reasons why the WMI class is missing and how can it be added back to the system?

Hi. Thank you for your question and reaching out. I’d be more than happy to help you with your query.

The cause for this issue could be a corrupted WMI repository. A missing patch could also be one of the reasons why this happened. YOU can try this command to restore the WMI class.

    wmiadap /f
