Hello there,

I am trying to connect VPN for hours!

I got this error: Windows 11 VPN Connection Error: The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during inital negotiations with the remote computer.

I did everything:

I also removed all last updates. and tried to install kb5010795 update but, it does not work for my OS.

OS info:

  • Windows 11 Pro
  • 22H2
  • 20.‎02.‎2023
  • 22621.1344
  • Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22639.1000.0

Could you help me for this issue please,

Thank you!

    Hello there,

If you have made any recent windows updates uninstall them and see if that helps.

Some of the reasons why you may see this error are when the Microsoft CHAP v2 protocol is disabled or when the PPP settings are not configures properly.

In the Run command search box, type ncpa.cpl and hit Enter to open the Network Connections window.

In the Network Connections window, right-click on your VPN connection and select Properties.

In the VPN Properties dialogue box, go to the Security tab and select the radio button next to Allow these protocols option.

Now, make sure that the box next to Microsoft CHAP Version 2 (MS-CHAP v2) is checked.

Press OK to save changes and exit.

Hope this resolves your Query !!
