Bitlocker key when i type it in is only accepting the numbers and not letters

Question

I've got what appears to be the BitLocker key with me but when i enter it my keyboard is not entering letters...its only entering the numbers. And the bit locker key is both letters and numbers. Its an asus laptop. Can anyone help me out with this one so i can get it?

Hi Annemarie, I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're facing, I will be happy to assist in the best way I can.

The BitLocker only contains numbers, if it includes a letter then it is not your BitLocker recovery key.

There are 5 ways to find your BitLocker key.

1. In your Microsoft account
2. On a printout
3. On a USB flash drive
4. In a work or school account
5. Held by your system administrator

If you are unable to locate the BitLocker recovery key and can't revert any configuration change that might have caused it to be required, you’ll need to reset your device using one of the Windows recovery options. Resetting your device will remove all of your files.

Microsoft support is unable to provide or recreate, a lost BitLocker recovery key.
