Check the recent activityon your account to see if there was a log in that matches what is contained in the email message

If there wasn't anything unexpected, the email message is a phishing scam.
If there was, change the password for the account immediately after first checking for anything unusual in terms of security information and any forwarding rules you did not set up.

Two-Step Verification is an advanced security feature. As the name says, there will be "Two steps" to verify your account before you can access it.
To turn on Two-step Verification :
- Go to https://account.live.com and login your account.
- Click on Security & Privacy, then select More security settings.
- Under Two-step Verification, click on Turn on Two-step Verification.
After turning it on, you'll be able to generate an App Password on the same Security Settings page.
