Who is the weak link in opening WordPad?

Without going into great detail on sources I found, with some help from other sources the general reason for a suddenly developed problem starting WordPad in it's having a long delay, probably ~40 sec on startup. that disconnecting the router would stop the problem. After much wasted time checking all kinds of settings, anything anyone mentioned online, firewall settings, etc., and comparing all with a working computer, I found that apparently the problem was I had set my Cannon MG3620 printer as the default printer, (instead having PDF set as default printer), since I had two printers on the system.

Apparently for startup WordPad needs to know the default printer for some unknown reason, and since it's WiFi, and turned off generally, the router goes catatonic spacing out searching for the printer, until it gives up and says OK I'll just start WordPad without it. Where does the incompetence lie, in the Fios router which I believe is just doing what it's told in searching, the Cannon software drivers, or is WordPad software not able to be made competent so that it doesn't spend time searching for a turned-off printer that is not needed, or at least not yet?

    Hello there,

This might also be due to the Canon driver and you can confirm this by adapting the drivers and seeing if there are any improvements.

There could be a conflicting program that is causing Wordpad to open slowly when you are connected online. First, let's try to reinstall your network adapter driver.

    Here's how:

    1. Press Windows key + X
    2. Open Device Manager
    3. Expand Network adapters
    4. Choose your network adapter driver, if its wirelss or ethernet
    5. Right click and uninstall.
    6. Reboot your computer to allow windows to reinstall the drivers.
    7. Check if Wordpad is still slow when you are connected online with the network adapter on.

Hope this resolves your Query !!

actual solution for people looking for one.

Go to Settings app>bluetooth & devices> Printers & scanners> uncheck let windows manage default printer> click your local default printer or in my case print to pdf> set as default
