Office Professional 2019 Version 2302 Build 16130.20218 - Cannot lock file when editing from sharepoint.

Hi.

I have just updated my office applications to version 2302 build 16130.20218 (This is Office Professional Plus 2019)

As soon as this had updated if I open a file from my share-point in the app, and click on edit, I get the following error "Unknown error trying to lock file"

This was working fine before the office update, no other changes have been made.

I have the same issue on multiple Windows 10 machines with Office 2016 and the Excel App. My Windows 11 machine with Microsoft 365 Apps for business does not have this issues.

Similar problem here, multiple Windows 10 machines with Office Home and Business 2021 v2302.

Working together on multiple shared excel files (saved in Onedrive) and cant opening them with a "ms-excel:ofe|u|" shortcut since update, file is now "read-only". Opening them over excel's "last used" list works, editable and autosave is on.

And another strange thing:

Login in office online through Chrome (v110.05.5481) doesnt work anymore, always "password incorrect", edge works without any problem.

We have the same issue in our customers, with Office 2016, 2019 and 2021 with 2302 update: the word documents opened with webdav links "ms-word:ofe|u|" file opens in read-only mode (the files were editable with previous versions).

The issue is not reproducible in windows machines with Office 365 with 2302 update (or 2016,2019,2021 office versions with previous updates).

Where can we find the detailed release notes/changelog of the 2302 update? We haven't found any link in the 2016/2019 or 2021 update history pages.

Microsoft team has found out a recent update intended to enhance the Office file user experience that resulted in this issue.

Besides, the code fix has been fully deployed. If your issue is not solved, please wait patiently for the update to be pushed.

hi, I was thinking that the problem was solved in Friday, but this morning it seems that some of the users can check out files from SharePoint, and others still can not. I see that build number of Office is still the same, but my Office is checking out, and updated Office with same build number of my colegue doesnt check out file for editing. Is there anything else we should be aware of? We are using Sharepoint 2013

I've just had the update Version 2302 Build (16130.20306 Click-to-Run)

The issue still persists, Unknown error trying to lock file when clicking on to Edit Workbook from a Share Point file.
I rolled office back using the Deployment Tool to Version 2301 (Build 16026.20200)

Once back on 16026.20200 clicking on Edit Workbook allows the document to be edited no problem. I upgraded again to 16130.20306 and the error returned. I have rolled back to 16026.20200 and prevented updates for the time being.

For clarity the I am using Office Professional Plus 2019

We have updated Office 2019 to Version 2302 (Build 16130.20306) and the issue is fixed.

Update after new version (2023/03/20)

With the new version (Build 16130.20332), the files open again in Read-Only mode. The issue is back.

Update after latest update (2023/03/28)

With the new version Version 2303 (Build 16227.20212) the issue is fixed again.

My problems started with the update. I have Build 16130.20306 and I am getting blocked from uploading any files: "The server you are trying to access is using an authentication protocol not supported by this version of Office."

I have tried signing in and out, i have updated everything. i have deleted registry keys tied to Microsoft--nothing works.

Other users are experiencing the same "Read only" file issue mentioned in this thread.

What is the fix?

February 28, 2023 Version 2302 (Build 16130.20218) : Issue detected (1st time)

March 14, 2023 Version 2302 (Build 16130.20306) : Issue fixed

March 20, 2023 Version 2302 (Build 16130.20332) : Issue detected (2nd time)

Please, fix this issue, affects SharePoint and other WebDAV integrations.
