Hi,

So upon doing some testing with Windows 11 as our company will be moving to Windows 11 in the near future I am finding that when configuring a policy within Intune to set a basic start menu layout (pinned items using a JSON) it will set it, I tested adding a pinned app to that start menu which worked but when I logged out of the device and logged back in it just overwrote the changes I made and put it back to the policy.

Is there a way to just set the start menu just once and allow our end users to add onto it? Same with the Taskbar no doubt!

Any help is appreciated!

    @Tom Thanks for posting in our Q&A. From your description, did you mean that when you logged back, the start menu layout is changed to its default setting? If there is anything misunderstanding, please correct me.

    For this issue, it is suggested to check some information:

    1.Please check if the policy deployment status shows succeed in intune portal.

    2.Please check the registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Start_Layout"

     0 = Default

    1 = More pins

    2 = More recommendations

    If there is anything update, feel free to let us know.
