I was very surprized today during authentication against Azure

  • running SSMS on my computer and getting to connect AzureDB
  • connection fails because missing firewall rule, and offer to sign in to Azure to correct the firewall rule
  • need to authenticate - entering my microsoft account email and password (@hotmail.com). Nice
  • authentication require MFA and switch to Auth panel of - and now start surprice

AUTH PANEL OF: MInistry of Education of Estonia I have never been touched with - might be 5 years ago some training provide them - only connection) and asking to authenticate with email of my employee (in form I never use). I configure my athenticator and so - but no any result - endless loop.

Then I change account - I select rather my microsoft account my business account - and again. I'm switched to Panel of Ministry of Educ - You know - MS Auth Customized panel), I'm going through authentication - and now I can add firewall rule etc

Microsoft is making security defaults available to everyone on Azure, including requesting Multifactor Authentication (MFA) as explained here. MFA works with Microsoft Authenticator application that you can download from Google Play and Apple Store.

The same is happening to me.

Configure your Microsoft Account to use MFA as explained here.
