When will AKS version 1.23.x actually be removed / unavailable?

The EOL note for this AKS version states the following:

  1. AKS is retiring v1.23.x on 2 April 2023.
  2. you have up to 30 days after the version is removed to upgrade

Will I be able to create new AKS clusters using 1.23.x from April 2 through the grace period in bullet 2 or is it saying that existing AKS cluster will continue to work, but new AKS cluster will fail with some form on "invalid AKS Version" error

    @Graeme Thomson

    I understand you want to know if you will be able to create new v1.23.x after April 2 during the grace period.

    After April 2, 2023, you will not be able to create new AKS clusters using 1.23.x. Existing clusters will continue to work and be supported during the 30 day grace period. You won't be allowed to add node pools of the deprecated version to your cluster. Clusters will continue to work after the grace period but no longer be supported. More information about this can be found in this FAQ.

    What does 'Outside of Support' mean

    'Outside of Support' means that:

    The version you're running is outside of the supported versions list.
    You'll be asked to upgrade the cluster to a supported version when requesting support, unless you're within the 30-day grace period after version deprecation.
    Additionally, AKS doesn't make any runtime or other guarantees for clusters outside of the supported versions list.

    Hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need anything else!
