My applications freeze when I plug in secondary hdd

It has windows in it but it won't boot. I can't use anything when hdd is plugged but when I remove the cable everything is normal

    which Hard Drive you are using?

    If magnetic disk / old hard disk you are using, there might be chance to be a bad sector / spindle fault / HDD plates issue in the disk.

    I think this fault relate to hard disk fault.

    Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having query\issues related to Hard Disk.

    There can be some hardware issue on that Disk itself Due to which read-write operation retry and hangs.

    Please boot your computer using safe mode and perform full check disk using below command on that drive to repair filesystem or Bad sectors errors.

    chkdsk /f /r <DriveLetter>
