554 5.4 14 email error

Email not getting delivered

Can some some assist me in understanding this error message within my organisation some users within are domain are trying to send emails to to external address. After mail trace via admin exchange is I saw this error message 554.5.4.14

Based on the error its appling the domain in the recipient email address the exchange online mail server accepted the , but the couldn't correctly route the message to the recipient mail box hence the exceeded hop occured.

    Hi @David Aderonmu ,

    From the error message, this issue occurs because the Exchange Edge server cannot associate the SMTP address space for the application as a subdomain to the accepted domain. This is true even though the accepted domain is configured as a parent domain.

    For your reference: "554 5.4.14 Hop count exceeded - possible mail loop" NDR for outgoing email that's sent to an on-premises application in Exchange Server
