Installed Microsoft 10 Pro instead of Home

Question

after formatting my hard drive I wasn't paying attention and accidently hit windows 10 pro instead of home. I only have a licence for Home edition. I have tried to do a reinstall but it automatically installs windows 10 pro.

Have you checked what version you have after the install? Go to the Start menu > Settings > About. The Windows edition is determined by the product key/license that you have. Nothing to worry about if you do have Pro, you already have the license and aren't paying anything extra, just means you get more features.

Clean install Windows 10 from Resetting the PC will not give the option to change the operating system.Use of a USB drive, which needs to  be created using the Media Creation Tool, Command Prompt, or third-party software  is the best way to finish a brand-new installation of Windows Home Edition. Moreover, you must make sure the machine can be started from a USB device, which may require changing the BIOS or UEFI settings. 

If you use a pen drive to install Windows,

It will open the setup like this

Eventually, It will display this page where you can select the operating system you need to install.

From Here you can select the required system and install.
