Restart Windows Update components:
- Make use of the shortcut Win Key + X to open the Power Menu.
- Select Command Prompt (Admin) on the Power Menu.
- Type the following command and press Enter to stop the BITS, Windows Update, Cryptographic, MSI Installer services.
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
net stop appidsvc
net stop cryptsvc
- To delete qmgr*.dat files, copy and paste the below command and press Enter.
Del “%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat”
- Then, type the following command and press Enter.

- To re-register the BITS files and the Windows Update files.

- In order to reset Winsock, copy and paste the below command and press Enter.
- netsh winsock reset
- Copy and paste the below command and press Enter.
- netsh winhttp reset proxy
- To restart BITS, Windows Update, Cryptographic, MSI Installer services that were stopped at first.
- Type the following command and press Enter.
net start bits
net start wuauserv
net start appidsvc
net start cryptsvc
- Finally, restart your PC.
Run sfc / scannow and DISM tools:
- Go to the start menu
- In the search column, type as Command Prompt.
- Right-click on the Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
- Type the following command and press Enter.
sfc /scannow
- It takes approximately 10-15 minutes for completion.
- Type the following commands and press Enter after each.
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
- Now, Restart your computer.
Perform a Clean Boot:
- Make use of the shortcut Windows + R to open the Run command dialog box.
- Type msconfig in the given space box of Open and click OK.
- In the System Configuration window, click the Services tab.
- Check in the Hide all Microsoft Services and click Disable all options.
- Click OK.
- Now, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to open Task Manager.
- Click the Startup tab and disable programs that are set to boot during Windows startup.
- After completion of the above steps, restart your PC.
Update Windows Services:
- Make use of the shortcut Windows + R to open the Run command dialog box.
- Type services.msc in the given space box of Open and click OK.
- In the Services window, on the left pane locate Windows Defender Antivirus Service.
- Double-click on it and click the dropdown arrow of Startup Type and set it to Automatic.
- Finally, click Apply and OK to save the changes.
