Hypothetical example of Infection Timeline with VM that gets auto shutdown: Auto shut down VM server at 6:00PM Virus or Zero-Day Exploit comes out at 8:00PM. AV vendors release signature update to detect at 1:00PM. Server auto starts at 6:00AM and gets virus immediately because it wasnt updated (as it was off). Bascially what I am trying to say is what good is auto shutdown for VMs if your server gets infected the minute it powers back on?
