'Do Not Forward' encryption on Outlook emails

Hi,

I am wondering if there is any way to allow users to view of an email with 'Do Not Forward' encryption, when they are not a recipient of it.

To explain the issue, I am part of an Internal Audit department and we are finding that colleagues that are being audited are sending us emails with 'Do Not Forward' encryption applied.

As they are sending us sensitive data, this makes sense from their point of view, but we are unable to accept these emails as audit related evidence as they cannot be viewed by anyone other than the recipient. So, other auditors, audit approvers and external auditors (external auditors are those who audit us in turn) cannot view the evidence.

Meaning our only option is to ask that the emails are sent again but with a different encryption applied, this can obviously lead to some pushback.

When the email is sent as 'Encrypt-only', we can convert it to a PDF, therefore removing any encryption and allowing it to be used as audit related evidence.

So far, we have identified no similar workaround for 'Do not Forward'.

Is anyone aware of one?

Thanks

    Hi @Gavaghan, Robert ,

    Welcome to our forum!

I am wondering if there is any way to allow users to view of an email with 'Do Not Forward' encryption, when they are not a recipient of it.

For data protection, the option "Do not forward" is designed to keep the message from being seen by non-recipients. So I'm afraid that there's no other way for non-recipients to directly view the content of an email that's set to "Do Not Forward."
