I need to be able to add descriptive comments about each VM that I've created, but I can't find any property or section that allows this type of free-text description of each VM. Does such a property exist? Thanx!

I'm not sure there is a freetext field like that (or - i'm fairly sure there isen't).
Have you considered using a tag instead? You could simply name it description but you would be limited in the amount of characters that a tag support.
