Azure charges for disk expansion

Question

I am trying to expand the data volume in an azure VM. The current setup disk type/size is Premium SSD LRS/512MiB and nearly filling and time to extend the volume. I am thinking to expand by 128GiB.

What I understand about the cost, since I have already setup 512GB (Disk tier P20), expanding by 128GiB, or 256GiB, or 512GiB will cost the same. I.e. it's set to the next 'Disk tier,' which is P30, and charges will be based on P30 (1024 GiB).

I want to confirm, I can extend by 512 GiB rather than 128GB, they are the same cost. Am I correct?

Yes, you are correct. You will be charged for a P30 disk either way, so may as well increase to 1024.

Based on the information you provided, it seems that you are using a Premium SSD LRS disk with a size of 512 GiB If you want to expand the disk by 128 GiB, you will be charged for the P30 disk tier, which has a size of 1024 GiB, Expanding the disk by 128 GiB or 512 GiB will cost the same, as they both fall under the P30 disk tier

The prices shown are the monthly prices. How do I get charged if I use disks for less than a month? The charges will be pro-rated on an hourly basis using the monthly price. Additional information: If I use Azure Storage for only a few days a month, is the cost prorated?

Storage capacity is billed in units of the average daily amount of data stored, in gigabytes (GB), over a monthly period. For example, if you consistently used 10 GB of storage for the first half of the month, and none for the second half of the month, you would be billed for your average usage of 5 GB of storage.
