Hello everyone, I can't find a detailed document about Microsoft Intune Plan 1 Device, so I have some questions.

I'm pretty sure the Intune Plan 1 Device would be assigned to the device rather than the user, but I could be wrong. I need to manage all my employees' devices, including internal devices and their personal ones. The internal devices are managed and enrolled into a security group. Do I need to assign this license to those personal devices?

Thank you.

@Mayday, Thanks for posting in Q&A.

Based as I know, the Microsoft Intune Plan 1 is the Microsoft Intune license which include the following featured:

    • Cross-platform endpoint management
    • Built-in endpoint security
    • Mobile application management
    • Endpoint analytics
    • Microsoft Configuration Manager2

And this is a user based license. For device license, it has some limitation and you need to buy separately.

So for your situation, you can just assign the license to the user who will enroll the devices. If you have more questions about license, you can contact our licensing support to get more help:

And to do device enroll, there are many methods we can choose. Different method suit for different situation. For example, we can choose BYOD enrollment for windows personal devices. Choose Autopilot enrollment method, for the corporate devices which is new. To know more details, you can read the following link as a reference:
