Hi to all.

Today I noticed some strange behavior in windows 10

One user try to access a share folder in our DC server.

For many years in windows 7 we use //xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and we are able to see and open the share folders.

Me try the same in windows 10. We are able to see the share folders but when the user try to open one they get permission denided and ask for user name and password

We don't face similar issue if instead of IP we use the name of the server.

Why we face this issue?

Thanks and regards.

usually domain user has read permission on fileshare hosted in DC.

You may need to check if the user getting access denied message which user account being used?

Or you may need to check which account use to login to windows 10 while connect the share on DC.

Or another possibility could be the specify share is denied that user account if it is domain user.

First of all thanks for yor reply.

Of course the user has read access to the specific folder.

As i told if i use //Computer-name i'm able to see the share folder and has access to them without any issue

If i use //xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx i'm again able to see the share folder but they ask me for user name and password if i try to open them

    One more observation.

When I have opened the shared folder with //Computer-name and I right-click I see the security sheet in the properties of the folder

On the contrary, if I open it with //xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and right-click, I don't see the security sheet in the folder properties.
