What Happens if Answering an Own Question?

There are instances where I answer my own question after no one replied for a while, and then try to solve the problem and eventually find a solution. What happens in this case as the system doesn't allow to accept own answer?

Is there a moderator or someone like that from Microsoft who can look after such things?

It would be good to have a closure rather than the questions hanging open when an answer exists.

We of course would appreciate that you opt to come back and post the solution you found to your original question. Currently moderators and others cannot accept that answer, but they can be marked it as helpful even by the original poster.

Thanks for the info @Dave Patrick . Although this link tells me that I can answer my own question, which thus far I did on at least 3 occasions, there is no indication of how the Answer is made to be accepted (by me or some moderator). Or, am I missing something?

No, there's nothing else. Users can provide their own answers but not accept them. Moderators cannot mark answers either.

I hope Microsoft improves on this one.
