First track of ripped or copied CDs does not display track info

I am using the Windows Media Player WMP Legacy feature of Windows 11 to copy some of my old CDs to mp3.

Thankfully, the WMP has an automatic copy feature, which copies the CD automatically, the moment I insert it into the Cd drive. Usually the metadata about title, artist and album are automatically assigned and saved with the copied files. However, loading the metadata seems slower than copying. Therefore, the first track of each copied CD does not contain the metadata information, and those tracks would be filed in WMP in "unknown artist" or "unknown album" etc., which is very unfortunate.

Basically, it is the same problem as described in this archived question: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/lync/en-US/373931c5-1a94-4fd7-9b83-8549fc27038a/first-track-of-ripped-cds-in-wav-format-does-not-display-track-info-in-windows-explorer?forum=w7itpromedia

The only workaround I could come up with is the following:
When inserting the CD, the WMP shows checkboxes for all the tracks. When they are copied, the checkbox gets unticked. After the first track has been copied, I manually tick the first track again for a second copy. You can see the problem and my workaround in the image.

Another possibility is to delete the file without he informatino and insert the CD a second time, but this is more cumbersome in my opinion.

Is there any possibility to make WMP wait with copying the files until after it has received metadata from the servers?

I like to digitally backup all my CDs as well, I personally use iTunes (yes, it is available for Windows) as it does a very good job of this and I don't really experience any issues.

If you want to try iTunes out, you may want to make some settings changes first:

    • Go to Edit > Preferences... > General tab, here you can select the action when a CD is inserted
    • Still under General tab, click Import Settings..., you can select your desired encoder (MP3 etc.) and audio quality
    • Advanced tab, change the location destination of your imports here
