How to display a map of locations in Excel?

We are using a system that provides periodic locations by person. Using OData, we can bring that information into Excel. There would be four columns: datetime, person, latitude, and longitude. What we would like to do is show on a map, the locations of a selected employee during a selected period of time.

We tried using the 3-D map in Excel but it provided too many challenges to get the display correct. Is there a solution with Bing maps? The interactive Bing map wants latitude & longitude and numeric data. We want to associate the time and employee with each location. It also limits the number of points to 100.

    Hi @John Wiles

Is there a solution with Bing maps? The interactive Bing map wants latitude & longitude and numeric data.

Based on my tests, currently, Excel Bing map is unable to meet your request.

    • Only one column of data with locations can be identified in Excel Bing map, latitude or longitude.

    • All subsequent columns need to be numeric, if you select the columns include datetime and person names, it can not correctly identified these data either.
