Hi.

I currently have an Active Directory forest at functional level 2012 R2 which has integrated Exchange Server 2013 CU8.
What I want to know is, if I want to install Exchange Server 2019, I must first uninstall from the Active Directory Exchange 2013 schema? Or does the Exchange Server 2019 installer update the schema?

Thank you very much for the help.

Best regards

If you want to install Exchange Server 2019 in an Active Directory forest with an existing Exchange Server 2013 CU8 installation, you do not need to uninstall Exchange Server 2013 or remove its schema extensions from Active Directory.

The Exchange Server 2019 setup program will automatically detect the existing Exchange Server 2013 schema extensions and update them as needed. This means that the schema for Exchange Server 2019 will be an extension of the existing Exchange Server 2013 schema.

It is important to note that before you begin the installation of Exchange Server 2019, you should ensure that your Active Directory forest and domain functional levels are at least Windows Server 2012 R2 or higher, as Exchange Server 2019 requires these functional levels.

Additionally, it is recommended that you review the Exchange Server 2019 system requirements and prepare your environment accordingly, including performing any necessary updates to the operating system and other prerequisites.
