Issue with Sharepoint online viewer that opens incorrect version of file in Excel

Hello,

I have an issue where a file I try to view using the online viewer in sharepoint for Excel wont work because the file is too large. I select to open it in Excel and it shows me a the file, but it appears to be from Jan instead of the most recent version Mar. If I download the file from the sharepoint instead of try and view it, the Mar version is downloaded. To add to this issue, a coworker tried to view online then open in Excel and his version was from Feb. It seems like when I try to open the file in Excel via the online viewer it is using a cached version or something, but I deleted my cache and was still seeing the same issue. I saw the same issue using Chrome and Edge. This is the only file in the folder that seems to be doing this. When this file is updated, it keeps the same file name but overwrites the previous file.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

Hi @Marc S ,

Check if require content approval and version are enabled? In this way, people without permission cannot see the files in the pending and draft states.

Try clicking version history directly to see if you can see the corresponding file.
