window server 2019 CAL ?

Question

I have question regarding Window server 2019 CAL

FYI, i have 4X window server 2019  and 13X PC and NAS connected in a network (no external internet connection).  How many Device  CAL do i need to buy ?

Can you help to enlighten me.

Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having query\issues related to CAL Licensing

No matter how many devices a user uses to access the server to use services like file storage or printing, you must purchase a CAL for each one of them when you use the User CAL. If the employees of your firm want roaming access to the corporate network via several devices, unidentified devices, or simply if there are more devices than users in your organisation, buying a User CAL can make more sense.

A Windows Server CAL is a license that grants access Windows Server. CALs are used in conjunction with Microsoft Windows Server OS licenses to allow Users and/or Devices to access and utilize the services of that windows server

• User CALs allow a single user access to Windows Server from an unlimited number of devices
• Device CALs allow an unlimited number of users to access Windows Server from a single device
• CALs are licensed to access servers of the same level and below. (not forward compatible)
