SSRS on Azure SQL Server 2019 VM's

Hi,

I am deploying SQL Server 2019 VM's. SQL Server comes preinstalled as part of the VM creation process. SSRS does not come preinstalled. The SSRS installer requires a product key for Standard or Enterprise licensing. For SQL Server VM's, where can I find the needed product key? What am I missing, the licensing for SSRS should be included with the licensing for SQL Server Standard or Enterprise.

You might find that key in the ISO file, and/or if it is an Azure Marketplace Image, under C:\SQL_FULL\x64\default.ini (or similar)

Hi,

This is helpful but doesn't get me all the way (see below). I am able to find a product key in C:\SQLServerFull\x64\DefaultSetup.ini. It is listed in the format below:

PID="xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx"

The problem is that when I download and run the SSRS installer, it does not accept that product key. I get a message when I put in that key "To proceed please enter a valid 25-character license key." I have tried copying and pasting the key multiple times and verified that it is indeed correct.

Based of of the webpage referenced in the suggestion below, I also ran the SQL Server installer. It lists the same key as found in the DefaultSetup.ini file.

I am really at a loss as to where to go from here.

The VM is a Microsoft supplied image for SQL Server 2019 Standard on Windows Server 2022 Datacenter.

Just an update to this. The download link apparently went to the SSRS 2022 installer. I found the SSRS 2019 installer, and the PID worked great. Thank you for the suggestion.

In my case, I used a Windows Server 2022/SQL Server 2022 Standard VM image from Azure Marketplace. I found the DefaultSetup.ini file mentioned above and it did work as the product key when I used the SSRS 2022 installer.

It's possible that the product key for SSRS is not included in the licensing for SQL Server Standard or Enterprise. You may need to obtain a separate product key specifically for SSRS, which can be done through the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center or by contacting Microsoft support. It's important to make sure that you have the appropriate licensing in place to avoid any potential legal or financial issues down the line.

See my comment above. The key that is present in the SQL Server installer is not accepted by SSRS.
