Hi - is it possible to deploy an Custom.dic to office (current users) via intune and have this loaded into their office automatically, I'm looking to add certain key business specific words to all current users.. I've trawled through this community but cannot see anything relevant.

(not overwriting any current settings they have already added)

Windows 10 users with Microsoft 365

thanks

    Hi Mike

Yes, it is possible to deploy a custom dictionary file (Custom.dic) to Office for Windows 10 users through Microsoft Intune. This can allow you to add specific business-specific words to the custom dictionary for all current users without overwriting their existing settings.

To achieve this, you can follow these steps:

Prepare the Custom.dic file: Create or obtain the Custom.dic file that contains the additional business-specific words you want to add to the users' custom dictionaries. This file should be in the appropriate format for Office custom dictionaries.

Create an Intune Configuration Profile: In the Microsoft Endpoint Manager admin center (https://endpoint.microsoft.com), navigate to "Devices" > "Configuration profiles" > "Create profile."

Select the Platform and Profile type: Choose the appropriate platform (e.g., Windows 10) for which you want to deploy the custom dictionary. Then, select the "Custom" profile type.

Configure the Custom profile settings: Give the profile a name and description. Under "Settings," click on "Add" to add a new custom setting.

Configure the Custom.dic file deployment: In the custom setting, provide a Name and Description for the setting. For the Data type, select "String" or "File." Then, specify the path to the Custom.dic file in the Value field or select the file if using the File data type.

Assign the profile: Choose the appropriate assignment settings to target the Windows 10 devices and users you want to apply the custom dictionary deployment to.

Save and deploy the profile: Review the configuration profile settings and click on "Create" or "Save" to create the profile. Once created, assign the profile to the desired user or device groups.

Verify deployment and functionality: Monitor the deployment in the Intune portal and verify that the Custom.dic file is successfully deployed to the target devices. Users should see the additional business-specific words added to their custom dictionaries in Office applications.

By following these steps, you can deploy a custom dictionary (Custom.dic) file to Office for Windows 10 users via Intune, ensuring that it adds the desired business-specific words without overwriting any existing settings the users may have.
