Hi @Surya kumar ,
If a user is having an E5 license, then how would be the storage statistics? Given With E5 = 100 GB Is it like (100 GB+20GB or 30GB) or ((70 or 80GB)+(30GB or 20GB) ).
It's like (100 GB+20GB or 30GB). In other words, the quota of the Recoverable Items folder is actually separate from the mailbox quota. It's not counted against the user's mailbox quota. The linked document you shared above also indicates this:
- "The Recoverable Items folder has its own storage quota."
- "When an item is moved to the Recoverable Items folder, its size is deducted from the mailbox quota and added to the size of the Recoverable Items folder (quota available is reduced)"
And also what does versioning means in outlook?
As is mentioned in the document, "If In-Place Hold, Litigation Hold, or a Microsoft 365 or Office 365 retention policy is enabled, this subfolder (Versions) contains the original copy of the item and also if the item is modified multiple times, a copy of the item before modification is saved."
In terms of what action is considered as modification, we can refer to the explanation in the section "Copy-on-write page protection and modified items":
Per my understanding, it's not the same as the versions in SharePoint or OneDrive. From the perspective of Exchange Online, "Versions" is an invisible subfolder to end-users and is only used when a user is placed on In-place hold or litigation hold. What's more, not all modification will be saved into the Versions subfolder, see the table above.
