multiple Metastore creation in same reason in Azure

can we create 2 metastore in same location. from portal it doesnt allow . but is there any way , we can raise exception and create it in azure.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to create multiple metastore creation in same region.

Note: Azure portal does not allow it, and there is no way to raise an exception and create it in Azure.

@PRADEEPCHEEKATLA-MSFT Thank you for your response. i think from azure end we can not create a metastore in multiple location. But Databrick Team can create it from their backend by raising an exception over a ticket for them. 1 - Is their any plan in azure to remove this region based restriction because for example- in our case we have 1 tenant with multiple subscriptions and these subscriptions dont share any common data and belong to separate department . 2- in above case ,for any region - it might come under compliance , all production and stages data are shared in same metastore for any region and for few department might be data is critical and risky. what is the suggested approach to manage the metastore in this scenario, like who can be metastore admin /will adding each department's members as Admin be secure?could you please share some suggested approach ?

Hello @Azuretech - I'm not sure, whether Databrick Team can create it from their backend by raising an exception over a ticket for them. You can raise a request and see if they can enable it.

Due to some limitations, currently it is not allowed to create multiple metastores in a single region. As I said above answer, could share the feedback on our feedback channel.

@Azuretech that is not possible within databricks. The concept of unity catalog is to diverge everything to a single place however having multiple metastore per region is taking them away from the goals. We too were in the same situation and we were told no from databricks.
