setting to prevent hidden cells from opening when entering a cell formula that references a different cell

need to stop the sheets hidden cells opening as grouped or titles cells when entering formula in cell by selection of a different cell. lotus transition does not affect. problem started in last 2 mos.

safe mode solved the problem. problem still persisted after resetsettings done in normal mode. was there a excel upgrade that would have caused this?
