Can't see MARS backup points that should be there based on retention policy

Hello,
I am attempting to recover a file from a MARS backup, from a little over 3 years ago, where the monthly retention policy for the backup is set to 60 months (5 years), and the yearly retention policy is set to 10 years. However the oldest backup available is from 2 years ago, while the backup was initially configured in late 2017. Am I missing something in terms of the retention policy, or is there another step needed to obtain older backups?

You’ll be able to restore the backed-up data for unexpired recovery points. If you decide to resume protection, then you can use the Re-enable backup schedule option. After that, data will be retained based on the new retention policy.
Is it possible that you may have stopped using a backup schedule and deleted all stored backups? In that case, you will not be able to see any recovery points that were created before you stopped using the backup schedule.
If neither of these situations apply to you, it is possible that there was an issue with your backup job that caused it to fail or not complete successfully. You can check the status of your backup job by opening the MARS management console and going to the Actions pane and selecting Schedule Backup.

2023-04-03T18:34:06.6733333+00:00 I think there is some misunderstanding - I never deleted or stopped/paused by the backup. It has been running continuously since 2017. The earliest recovery point I see is from March 2021. There are no errors showing, and I can recover from one of the available points. I want to go back further, which I thought I could based on the 60 month/10 year retention policy. Or does that just refer to how long the backup is kept if I stop the backup indefinitely?
