Mac backup of Windows server?

I am looking for an easier to backup a Windows server in a Macintosh environment.

Our office is all Macintoshes, but the server is Windows.  For backups the current office manager does a simple file transfer.  He hooks up the server to an external hard drive and drags half the server’s contents to the backup drive.  The file transfer takes many hours.  During that time we do not have access to the folders that are being backed up. And the backups are not as often as I would prefer.

As a Mac user, I like Time Machine.  I plug in my external hard drive, and Time Machine runs on its own.  Time Machine backs up my Mac without interrupting my work.  As they say, Time Machine is set-and-forget.

I see online several applications that purport to be the Windows equivalents of Time Machine.  I have not started to experiment with these applications.

My question here is how to do it.  I presume that we would have to run the backup application from one of the Macs.

I see online much discussion about using Time Machine to backup TO a server.  Can we use Time Machine to back up FROM a server?

And, if not, is there some other Mac application to backup a Windows server?

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out. I can understand you are having query\issues related to Windows backup to MAC computer.

As Time Machine is third party or Non-Microsoft application Hence I would suggest you to post your query to MAC or Time Machine forums or support.
