We have installed SharePoint in Single Farm deployment.

After deployment, we have to change the Database server or SharePoint.

Is it possible to change the database server after SharePoint deployment?

Note: we will restore from the old database server to the new database server but the hostname will be different.

Any Idea?

Thank You

    Hi @Nur Hossain ,

Sure, it is possible to change the database server after SharePoint deployment. In a nutshell, Moving the SharePoint database from one server to another can be achieved with the following steps:

    • Step 1: Stop All SharePoint Services
    • Step 2: Backup & Restore All SharePoint Databases to the new SQL Server
    • Step 3: Point the web application to the new database server by setting up SQL Server connection aliases
    • Step 4: Start All SharePoint Services

See detailed steps and information in this article: Move all databases in SharePoint Server.
