I have a Dell XPS 13 9360 and after winder home 10 update BitLocker has been enabled automatically and it asks for the 48 digits recovery key. I have reinstalled windows on C partition but still D is locked and I have all my important data there. I tried multiple ways found on inthernet but I still have this message:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>manage-bde -protectors -add d: -RecoveryPassword

ERROR: The operation cannot be performed because the volume is locked.

Does anyone has a solution not to loose my data please?

I still get the error message: ERROR: The operation cannot be performed because the volume is locked. I don't have any recovery password because I didn't setup one. Also the discussion from the suggestive post is not helpfull because as I said I don't have any recovery password - it bitLocker was enabled after an windows update and in order to use the laptop I had to reintall windows on C but D is still locked and I need the data from there.

Hello there, I suggest you first try the following steps:

    1. Click Start, type "cmd" in "Search programs and files".
    2. Right click on "cmd.exe" icon and choose "Run as Administrator".
    3. Type the following command to check the status in command prompt window. Cscript C:\windows\system32\manage-bde.wsf –status
    4. Then, you can use the following command: Cscript C:\windows\system32\manage-bde.wsf –off D: (where D refer to the partition, you want to decrypt.)
