I am unable to toggle Compatibility View in Edge IE Mode

Question

Since removing the entry point for IE via Group Policy, some clients have been unable to open and view local xml files, they are presented with a blank screen. Since these are xml files generated by a third party software, which are subsequently downloaded locally, it isn't possible to use the IE Mode compatibility list. To mitigate this I have advised users to reload the file manually in compatibility mode. This is a workaround, however, some users are unable to click the toggle "open this page in compatibility view", which is required for the page to render correctly. The toggle is visible, however when clicking on it, it doesn't do anything, as though it's a dead link/button/toggle.

Any ideas please, as this is causing a headache, we need to remove IE from our devices, but users are unable to open XML files using Edge.

Hi @Lynz ,

IE mode Compatibility view cannot be turned on when the zone is Local Machine, which means you are viewing a local file. You have to either send it to Intranet or Internet zone to enable the compatibility view.
