Transition to built-in Azure Monitor

I received the email notice regarding transition to built-in Azure Monitoring with the subject - "Action required: Transition to built-in Azure Monitor alerts for Azure Backup". The 3/31/2026 date was mentioned three times in the body of the email with automatic Follow up beginning 3/31/2023. Are we really planning on tracking this transition for three years?

    Hello @WIEMERS, MICHAEL R Thank for contacting us on Microsoft Q&A platform. Happy to help! Regarding the email, this is as expected. We generally communicate retirement 3 years in advance. Hence you received email now saying that it will be retired in March 2026. The reason you might have got 2 emails is either because you are admin/owner of multiple subscription which are using classic alerts, or it might be a one-off issue where duplicate email was sent. You will not receive continuous communications after this. We might send another communication a year later as a reminder (in case you have not yet transitioned). Hope this clarifies!
