Security Center Service wscsvc Crashes on Start

Hi! On my hp laptop with Windows 10, the security center service wscsvc cannot be started anymore which leads to an error message on login. when you start it, it crashes with 0xc0000005. A coworker has the same issue. From the Application event log:

    Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue

    • Run System File Checker (SFC)
      • Command Prompt as Administrator
        • sfc / scannow
    • Run DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management)
    • Command Prompt as Administrator
      • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    • Update drivers

    sfc actually found something. Problem persists.

    At first, upgrading to Windows 11 seemed to have fixed the problem, but now it is back

    It looks like a real crash and should be fixed by Microsoft.
